FARM RESIDENTS
At Red Haven Farm, our animals are very important to us. We take a lot of pride and care in raising our animals in the healthiest way possible. Not only do we like to enjoy their company, and the delicious meat they provide, we also sell registered and unregistered stock for others to build their own herds. Please see below for animals we have for sale. We don’t just sell our animals…we want to make sure they are going to homes that are set up to appropriate care for them
SCOTTISH HIGHLAND CATTLE
We raise Scottish Highland cows. Scottish Highlands aren’t just cute, they have a wonderfully calm disposition. While they have big horns they are a smaller cow and fairly easy to handle. Their meat is excellent and lean, while also being well marbled. It is also higher in protein content and lower in cholesterol than traditional beef. We are registered breeders with the American Highland Cattle Association and sell quality AHCA registered and unregistered stock. We also have the Quality Highland Beef designation supporting our high-quality cuts and shares for filling your freezers.
IDAHO PASTURE PIGS
As registered IPP breeders, we offer weaned breeding stock and feeder piglets” To be placed on our waiting list, you may put a deposit down in our online store for our next litter or currently available pigs. As registered IPP breeders, we raise Idaho Pasture Pigs (IPPs) which are grass-fed, and pasture-raised. The Idaho Pasture Pig (IPP) is a breed of pig composed of the Duroc, Berkshire, and Kunekune pigs. These are true “grazing” pigs that are very gentle in nature and have great personalities. Our pigs rotate through pastures and the woods providing them with lots of room to be pigs and grow well.
GOATS
We raise Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf goats. Pygmy goats are primarily raised for meat, while Nigerian Dwarfs are typically raised for their delicious, sweet and creamy milk. We sell our livestock for other farms to enjoy these engaging weed eaters. Goat meat is sold in our farm store.
POULTRY
We have pasture-raised, organically fed chickens. If you are near the farm, you will likely hear them crowing. Their eggs and meat are available in our store and occasionally we will also offer processed turkeys, chicks and pullets for sale.
HORSES AND MINI DONKEYS
Donkeys
They are some of our farm favorites. These small and sassy equines make us laugh with their antics and braying. They also appreciate getting some scratching and loving. They also serve the purpose of being guardians on the farm. They will alert you if predators are around and help chase them off.
Horses
We have four horses on the farm that we adore. It is beautiful watching them out in the pasture. We do not breed horses or offer horseback riding.
DOGS AND CATS
We can't forget our canine and feline farm residents. They have important roles on the farm and love all the attention they get. Our two Great Pyrenees greet all of our guests and work all night to keep predators at a distance. Our two Goldendoodles are purely for entertainment and love. It is not uncommon to see us driving around the farm with all four dogs in the side-by-side with us! There are also a lot of cats roaming around keeping our barns mice-free. We try to handle all of our barn cats so they are well-socialized even though they live outside. We occasionally have kittens available to take home to your farm.
